2023 City Center Watermain Rehabilitation
This work is to replace the existing watermain within Golden Spike Road/Calahoo Road, from south of the CN Rail to Weston Drive.

Traffic disruptions: At different locations, throughout the duration of the project some sections of Golden Spike Road/Calahoo Road will be closed. Currently First Avenue is closed at Calahoo Road as part of a traffic accomodation and safety plan; in place to complete watermain work between the CN Rail and McLeod Avenue.
Atco Gas Project – Diamond Avenue

Diamond Avenue from Madison Crescent to Schram Street; The work is to install a new gas main to reinforce service in the Industrial area. Most of the work will be done by directional drilling, but there will be some locations where excavation is required.

2023 Highway 16A Resurfacing

- Hwy 16A eastbound from Century Road to the east City limit, including Hwy 16A/Century Road intersection.

2023 Pioneer Road Top Lift Asphalt Construction
This project prefilling and paving of the locations below. Work will be completed at night and will immediately follow the work being done on Highway 16A. Traffic will be accommodated and appropriate signage. barricades and flag persons will be initiated as required.
- Grove Drive from existing round-a-bout to approximately 180m west.
- Pioneer Road from Grove Drive to Hwy 16A (approximately 180m west of the intersection roundabout)Start Date: immediately following work on Hwy 16A, late July

This project includes replacement and upsizing of watermains in the Industrial area of Spruce Grove. 2023 work is at Century Road from South Avenue to Diamond Avenue and then from Diamond Avenue from Century Road to Schram Street.

Starting on or about July 4, four intersections along Jennifer Heil Way will be temporarily converted into four-way stops to accommodate the installation of rotatable bases for the north/south poles as part of high-load corridor work.
The impacted intersections will be Nelson Drive, McLeod Avenue, Collector ‘A’ (the intersection between Walmart and the RCMP building) and Highway 16A. The anticipated schedule for each intersection is as follows:
- July 4 – Nelson Drive and Jennifer Heil Way
- July 5 – McLeod Avenue and Jennifer Heil Way
- July 6 – Collector ‘A’ (the road between Walmart and the RCMP building) and Jennifer Heil Way
- July 12-13 – Highway 16A and Jennifer Heil Way
Crews are planning to start work after the morning rush hour to help limit disruption. Traffic lights will be off at each intersection, which will be treated as a four-way stop. Each intersection will be reduced to only one left turn lane and one straight through lane during this time.
The work at each intersection will last approximately one day except for the intersection at Highway 16A and Jennifer Heil Way, which is expected to last two days. This intersection will also have flag people on site to assist traffic flow and traffic lights will come back on for the overnight period.
Motorists may want to consider alternate routes during this work. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience as construction progresses.

Highway 16A
UPDATE: This work will now begin on July 23rd and will continue for approximately three weeks.
Starting on or about July 3rd, the City will be doing resurfacing work on Highway 16A eastbound from Jennifer Heil Way to Nelson Drive and from Century Road to the east City limit. This work will be completed overnight to minimize traffic disruptions and traffic will be accommodated in the westbound lanes. This work is expected to take approximately three weeks.
Highway 16 (Yellowhead)
Starting on or about July 9th, Alberta Transportation will be doing work overnight on Highway 16. This work will be eastbound from Highway 43 (west of Stony Plain) to Highway 60 (Acheson). This will involve a one lane closure. This work is expected to take two weeks.

UPDATE (May 23): Watermain work continues at the Calahoo Road and Weston/Mohr Avenue intersection. Access to Mohr Avenue from Calahoo Road is temporarily closed until further notice. Access to Weston Drive from Calahoo Road is unaffected and available.
UPDATE (May 15): The intersection at Calahoo Road and Weston Drive/Mohr Avenue will be closed in two phases. Phase one will be closed from Monday, May 15, until the end of day on Wednesday, May 17. No traffic will be able to access Weston Drive from Calahoo Road during this time. Once the work is complete, phase two work will happen on the east side of the intersection at Calahoo Road and Mohr Avenue. This side of the intersection is expected to be closed for two days, starting on Thursday, May 18. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Calahoo Road at all times.
Work to replace an existing watermain will be happening along Calahoo Road/Golden Spike Road beginning May 15. This work will be completed in stages starting at Calahoo Road and Weston Drive and crews will continue working south to the CN Rail tracks. North and southbound traffic will be affected. Traffic will be accommodated on the southbound lanes. Work is anticipated to continue through to mid-August.
Drivers and residents are reminded to watch for and obey all barricades, signs, and flag people.
