The parcel of land at the west end of Mobile City Estates connecting Weston Drive and McLeod Avenue is being developed and requires watermain connection on Weston Drive. A portion of the east bound lane will need to be closed for this work to commence. Beginning August 29th the westbound lane will be utilized to maintain two directions of traffic with flagger. Completion date: September 1st.

2023 City Center Watermain Rehabilitation
This work is to replace the existing watermain within Golden Spike Road/Calahoo Road, from south of the CN Rail to Weston Drive.
- Start Date: May 15
- Completion Date: September 15

Traffic disruptions: At different locations, throughout the duration of the project some sections of Golden Spike Road/Calahoo Road will be closed. Work from Weston Drive to Church Road is complete. Work from south of CN Rail to First Avenue on the north side of Hwy 16A to be complete by August 23. Currently First Avenue is closed at Calahoo Road as part of a traffic accommodation and safety plan. Remaining work, within the southbound lanes of Calahoo Road, from First Avenue, to Church Road, to be completed by September 15 with a new traffic accommodation and safety plan in place.
Atco Gas Project – Diamond Avenue

Diamond Avenue from Madison Crescent to Schram Street; The work is to install a new gas main to reinforce service in the Industrial area. Most of the work will be done by directional drilling, but there will be some locations where excavation is required. Work is complete from Madison Crescent to Golden Spike Road. Work continues from Golden Spike Road to Schram Street.

- Project includes prefilling and paving of Grove Drive from existing roundabout to approximately 180m west and Pioneer Road from Grove Drive to Hwy 16A. Work will be completed at night and will immediately follow the work being done on Highway 16A. Traffic will be accommodated and appropriate signage. barricades and flag persons will be initiated as required.

UPDATE: Jespersen Avenue from King Street to Main Street is expected to be open today, August 15. Please note at this time there will be no through traffic to Main Street. City Hall and the Pioneer Centre will be accessible via Jespersen Avenue and will no longer be accessible through the temporary entrance created off King Street. This will return to a one-way exit only.

UPDATE: There will be prep work on the road beginning the week of June 12 but the road will not be fully closed until on or about June 19th.
Starting on or about June 12, Jespersen Avenue will be undergoing surface repair work and will be temporarily closed from Queen Street to King Street for approximately six weeks.
City Hall and the Pioneer Centre will remain open during this work and will be accessible via King Street. Please watch for signage.

Starting on or about August 18, the intersection at McLeod Avenue and Main Street will be fully closed for approximately two weeks. This includes the full closure of Main Street from First Avenue to Church Road and McLeod Avenue from Queen Street to King Street. This closure is necessary to complete the concrete pedestrian crossings and complete the final paving of asphalt on the roadways.
From August 18 - 20, there will be limited access for motorists on McLeod Avenue:
- Motorists will be able to access McLeod Avenue travelling west from King Street up to the first alley where they will have to turn north.
- Motorists will be able to access McLeod Avenue west of Main Street travelling south from the alley onto McLeod Avenue.
After the weekend, this portion of McLeod Avenue will be completely closed so crews can complete the work.
There will be no street parking for the duration of this work.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Starting on or about August 2, the intersection on Campsite Road between Walmart and the Parkland RCMP detachment will be temporarily converted into a four-way stop to accommodate the installation of rotatable bases for the north/south poles as part of high-load corridor work. This work is expected to take no longer than two days to complete.
Crews are planning to start work after the morning rush hour to help limit disruption. The intersection will be reduced to only one left turn lane and one straight through lane during this time. This intersection will have flag people on site to assist traffic flow and traffic lights will come back on for the overnight period.
Motorists may want to consider alternate routes during this work. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience as construction progresses.
