2021 construction has concluded

The City of Spruce Grove is gearing up for another busy construction year that will include many new projects, as well as the completion of multi-phased projects started in previous years. These projects will enhance the City’s roadways, utilities, buildings, parks and facilities.

This site has been created to help keeping the residents and businesses of Spruce Grove informed and aware of any and all impacts these projects may have on day to day life. We know that construction can impact residents and businesses and we thank you for your patience while we complete this work.

    These are the currently planned projects for this year's construction season. Updates will be shared as each project gets underway. Homes that will be directly impacted will also be contacted in advance.

    Industrial Storm Upgrades

    Upgrades to the existing storm network in the industrial area. This work includes select culvert replacements, Select ditch cleaning and limited piping of existing ditched areas

    Anticipated start date: May 15, 2021
    Anticipated completion date: July 31, 2021
    Impact: Minimal traffic disruption throughout duration of project.

    Watermain and Surface Rehab – South Avenue

    Replacement of aging water mains that have shown some break history, with new HDPE water mains. Repairs to existing sanitary sewer as required. Reconstruction of roadways immediately following water main construction.

    Anticipated start date: May 17, 2021
    Anticipated completion date:     September 30, 2021
    Impact:     Occasional disruption of water service. Traffic disruption throughout duration of project.

    Watermain / Sanitary Rehab – Grove Meadows Neighbourhood

    Replacement of 40-year-old water mains with new PVC water mains. New water services to houses complete with new cc valves. Paving of disturbed areas of roadways immediately following water main construction. Concrete repairs and paving of entire roadway to be completed in following year.

    Anticipated start date: May 17, 2021
    Anticipated completion date: September 30, 2021
    Impact: Occasional disruption of water service. Traffic disruption throughout duration of project. Limited front street access.

    Surface Improvements – Grove Meadows Neighbourhood

    Extensive concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk repairs and resurfacing of asphalt roadways following the 2020 Watermain Construction.

    Anticipated start date: June 1, 2021
    Anticipated completion date: August 31, 2021
    Impact: Traffic disruption throughout duration of project.

    Surface Improvements – Lakewood Neighbourhood

    Limited select concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk repairs and reconstruction and resurfacing of asphalt roadways.

    Anticipated start date: June 1, 2021
    Anticipated completion date: August 31, 2021
    Impact: Traffic disruption throughout duration of project.

    Arterial Resurfacing – Grove Drive

    Mill asphalt and overlay with new asphalt. Grove Drive eastbound from Jennifer Heil Way to Century Road and westbound from Calahoo Road to Jennifer Heil Way

    Anticipated start date: July 5, 2021
    Anticipated completion date: July 31, 2021
    Impact: Traffic disruption throughout duration of project. This work will be done at night to minimize disruption.
