Climate Change Action Plan

This year, the City of Spruce Grove (the City) is updating its Environmental Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP). The ESAP expires in 2021, after being in place for 10 years. To replace the ESAP, the City will spend this year preparing a Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP).

To create the CCAP, the City will engage with citizens, conduct research and recommend a set of actions that the City can take to address climate change in an environmentally and financially responsible way. Some of these actions will be to prepare for the effects of future changes to local weather. Other actions will help the City and residents do their part to reduce their contributions to global climate change.

The Climate Change Action Plan will help answer these two main questions:

  1. How can the City help prepare the community for the anticipated effects of climate change?
  2. How can the City reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and help the community do the same?

Over the coming weeks and months there will be many opportunities for you to share your hopes, fears, knowledge and experiences with us. This plan is for you, so we want it to reflect you!
