Playground, lights, concrete and more!
Big things are happening at the Re-imagined Central Park construction site this spring!
- The new playground with accessible features is being assembled and rubber surfaces are being installed
- Topsoil for the planter beds and soil cells have been installed, and new trees and shrubs will be planted soon
- A new asphalt trail on the east side of the park is being built to connect Central Park to the Heritage Grove trail system
- Concrete is being poured for the shallow skate park bowl, skate park plaza, and around the playground and planter areas
- Underground electrical and lighting installation is now complete. The new and extensive lighting will improve sight lines and ensure the park is well lit
- Furniture and landscaping elements such as benches, picnic tables, guard rails and tree grates will be installed soon
It's going to be a busy summer as we continue revitalizing and transforming Central Park into a safe, family-friendly recreation area and gathering space, while retaining the features we all love so much, including the skating oval, splash pad, fire pits, Lions Log Cabin, and the healthy, mature trees. We can't wait to invite you to the official grand opening celebration! Watch for more details toward the end of the summer.
Remember, the fenced off area at Central Park is an active construction site. Video surveillance is in use and public access is prohibited at all times.
